Have you ever counted how many friends do you have now? Have you ever counted how many people do you currently know? We had these friends or acquaintances that have entered our lives, since kindergarten age to school age then working age. Some of them are still kept in touch 'til today while the others that we didn't share many experience with, may be forgotten... Today, I have met someone I used to know.  On the way back home, I was getting down from the bus while he was standing at the same bus stop. We made eye contact. He looked at me. His face seemed familiar to me but I wasn’t curious enough to react something. As I was passing him, he waved at me to say hi. Our conversation started since then… I couldn’t recall his name, nor did he remember mine. So we continued our conversation by “reintroducing” ourselves to each other. คุณเคยนับดูไหมว่า ตอนนี้คุณมีเพื่อนอยู่กี่คน คุณเคยนับดูไหมว่า ตอนนี้คุณมีคนที่รู้จักอยู่เท่าไหร่ เพื่อน หรือ คนรู้จักที่ผ่านเข้ามาในชีวิตของเรา ตั้งแต่สมัย อนุบาล ประถม มัธยม มหาวิทยาลัย จนถึงวัยทำงาน บางคนเราก็ยังคบหาอยู่จนถึงปัจจุบัน บางคนที่เราไม่ได้มีประสบการณ์ร่วมด้วยมากนักก็อาจถูกลืมไป... วันนี้ ฉันได้พบกับเพื่อนเก่าหรือคนที่เคยรู้จักกัน ขณะกำลังเดินทางกลับบ้าน ฉันเพิ่งก้าวลงมาจากรถโดยสาร เขายืนอยู่ที่ป้ายรถโดยสาร   เราสบตากัน เขามองหน้าฉัน ฉันรู้สึกคุ้นหน้าเขาแต่ก็ไม่ได้สนใจ ขณะกำลังจะเดินผ่านไป เขาหันมาทักฉันด้วยการโบกมือ บทสนทนาของเราจึงเริ่มขึ้น... เขาจำชื่อฉันไม่ได้ ฉันก็จำชื่อเขาไม่ได้ เราจึงต้องเริ่มแนะนำตัวเองกันใหม่ เราทั้งคู่จำได้ว่าเคยเป็นศิษย์ร่วมสถาบันเดียวกัน... เขาจำคณะที่ฉันศึกษาได้ แต่ฉันจำไม่ได้ว่าเขาศึกษาคณะอะไร เขาพยายามนึกว่าเรารู้จักกันได้อย่างไร แต่นึกเท่าไหร่เราทั้งคู่ก็นึกไม่ออก จึงเปลี่ยนจากการรื้อฟื้นความทรงจำมาเป็นการถามไถ่สารทุกข์สุกดิบและชีวิตความเป็นไปของแต่ละคน และเมื่อถึงเวลาต้องลา เราทั้งสองต่างอวยพรให้อีกฝ่ายโชค...

ก่อนที่แมงเม่าอย่างเราจะบินออกไปดูไฟในเมืองเป็นรอบที่สอง เราก็ขอมีส่วนร่วมเป็นสักขีพยานหนึ่งในประเพณีอันเก่าแก่ที่สุดของลียงเสียก่อน นั่นก็คือการจุดเทียนขอบคุณพระแม่มารีนั่นเอง (อ่านตอนที่ 1 ที่นี่) จากที่สังเกตการณ์แล้ว จะเรียกว่าเป็นพิธีกรรมก็คงไม่ถนัดปากนัก เพราะเราไม่ได้สวดมนตร์หรือทำอะไรเป็นพิเศษเลยนอกจากจุดเทียนแล้วนำไปวางตรงขอบหน้าต่างบ้าน เทียนที่ใช้เป็นเทียนสีขาวแบบที่เราเห็นกันในโบสถ์นั่นแหละค่ะ นำเทียนมาใส่ในแก้วหรือถ้วยใสๆ เล็กๆ ที่หาได้ในบ้าน หรือตามซูเปอร์มาร์เก็ตทั่วไปในเมืองเขาก็มีแก้วเทียนขายเพื่อการณ์นี้โดยเฉพาะนะคะ ใส่น้ำลงไปในแก้วนิดหน่อย วิธีนี้จะช่วยให้เทียนไม่ติดก้นแก้วเวลาทำความสะอาด เป็นเคล็ดลับที่เพิ่งเรียนรู้จากที่บ้านแฟนแล้วพบว่า “พระเจ้ายอด มันจอร์จมาก ! ”   แก้วใส่เทียนที่วางขายทั่วไปในซูเปอร์มาร์เก็ต ถามผู้รู้ (ยายและแม่ของแฟน) แล้ว ไม่มีตัวเลขตายตัวค่ะ สำหรับจำนวนเทียนที่ต้องใช้ หลังจากจุดเทียนทั้ง 28 เล่มแล้ว (ยิ่งเยอะยิ่งสวย เขาว่างั้น) เราก็นำเทียนไปวางประดับไว้ตรงขอบหน้าต่าง มองไปฝั่งตรงข้าม เห็นเพื่อนบ้าน 2-3 หน่วย ก...

Before starting the adventure of the second night of the festival, I had a chance to participate one of the most ancient ceremonies of Lyonais, lighting candles to thank Mary. (Click here to read the Ep.I) You can use normal white votive candles or so-called prayer candles that you can find in a church. It’s better to put the candles in small containers if you don’t want to clean your window the day after. The containers can be small transparent cups or glasses in your kitchen or you can buy some containers that are created especially for this festival in a supermarket in your neighborhood. Glasses for candles sold in a supermarket We put a candle in each small glass with some water inside; this would help to get rid of the melt wax way easier. There is no compulsion in numbers of candles, one is even fine. Once the sun set, 28 candles were lit in our two windows - the more, the merrier!
